Next December 6 will be a holiday in Spain as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution, a historic moment to celebrate.
In most countries, the constitution establishes the legal framework of a nation.
In the case of Spain the Constitution of 1978 was very useful, since its approval by referendum was supported by the vast majority of the citizens, and its content was the result of a consensus among all the political forces of the moment.
With the Constitution of 1978 a new epoch was opened in Spain after the Franco regime and a stage of national reconciliation began. From that moment Spain consolidated itself as a modern State comparable to the neighbouring countries in the European Union.
