The Three Kings is the name by which the Christian tradition calls the three priests who came from the East to pay tribute and give gifts of great symbolic richness, gold, incense and myrrh; the baby Jesus at his birth. The current names of the Three Wise Men are Melchior, Gaspar and Baltasar.
In Spain, from the 19th century, the tradition of converting the night of the Three Kings night of January 5 began; at a children’s party with gifts for children. But it was in 1866 when the first procession of the Three Wise Men was celebrated in Spain, in Alcoy – Alicante, a tradition that extended to the rest of the country and later to other countries, especially countries of Hispanic culture.
